Highlights

For better part of last century, Bhutan remained in glorious isolation,denying to the outside world, the glimpses into its rich culture, tradition, religion and social-political structure thus adding to its deepening enigma – the last bastion of mythical Sangri-la.However,this itinerary concedes more than the glimpses rather insights into the undiluted tradition, culture, religious structures,Dzongs, monasteries,natural environment,quaint and serene valleys that has withstood the time and its fury.

Although for 6 days only,this itinerary cover well three beautiful valleys that constitute western Bhutan.These valleys with varying degree of altitude are generally marked with high passes in between Starting from the capital, Thimphu, temperate valley – which house many attractions modern as well as historical.After visiting these attractions, we drive east and pause for substantial period at Docula Pass. The pass that separate Thimphu and Paro valleys with Punakha. Savoring the astounding surroundings and peaks of eastern Himalayas. We move downhills and stops at sub tropical agrarian Punakha/ Wangdi valley, the former winter capital of the Kingdom. Thereafter we retrace back and visit emerald -green temperate valley of Paro and at the end hike up to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery -the cultural icon of the country.

Itinerary

After arriving & visa formalities and collection of baggage, Keep your copy of the visa clearance letter handy.You will be welcomed by our tour representative.
On the way to Thimphu, You will cross The iron chain bridge might look frightening at first, but once you start crossing it, it becomes very fun.
After your arrival in Thimphu, you will check-in at your hotel. You will relax and freshen up a bit, post which you will visit National Memorial Chorten.

The National Memorial was built by Bhutan’s third king, H.M.Jigme Dorji Wangchuck who is also known as the “father of modern Bhutan.” He wanted to erect a monument carrying the message of world peace and prosperity.

Post breakfast you will be visiting the following places :-

-Buddha point(Kuensel Phodrang)
The Kuensel Phodrang or the Buddha point is the world’s largest sitting Buddha statue, the statue is 167 feet high. The statue is situated on top of a hill overlooking the city of Thimphu, it can be accessed by road and is about 15 minutes away from the city’s center. The word Kuensel means everything is clear and from this place you will sure enjoy a great view of the Thimphu Valley on both sides.

-Sangaygang
Sangaygang is bird’s eye view of Thimphu valley BBS Tower AKA Sangaygang which is located North West of the Thimphu Valley is the popular spot for the dating and taking a walk around the blue pines, it’s around miles drive from the Thimphu valley. The Places has the top hills which gives a clear view of the entire Thimphu valley in a nutshell and the feeling from there is just fantastic.

-Takin Zoo
The mini zoo contained a small number of Takin but the King of Bhutan later decreed that it was improper for a Buddhist nation to keep an animal in captivity. The animals were set free and the zoo was shut down, but for some reason the Takin refused to leave the area for the forests nearby.Instead the animals were frequently found.

-Changangkha lhakhang
The Chagangkha Lhakahng situated on a ridge overlooking the city, near Mothithang on the outskirts of Thimphu.The temple is the oldest temple in Thimphu and was constructed by Lama Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo in the 12 century AD.
-Towards the evening you will undertake day excursion to Dochula Pass which is about 30KM from the capital.

-Weekend market
The weekend market is highly recommended to travelers who want to experience the local Bhutanese way of life.The weekend market is located in a set of stall of both side of the Wang Chhu River.The market essentially is a farmers market, where every week vendors from throughout the region start arriving by Thursday evening and stay at the market till Sunday.

Post breakfast you will travel towards Paro and visit the:-

-Rimpung Dzong
The Paro Dzong is probably Bhutan’s best known and most iconic Dzong.This is probably the first building you will notice when you land at Paro International Airport and will probably be your first memory of Bhutan.The imposing Dzong is perhaps the finest example of Dzong architecture existing the world today. The fortress was constructed in 1644 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal on the foundations of an ancient monastery.

-Ta Dzong (National Museum)
The Ta Dzong was constructed in 1656 with a purpose to give advance warning to the Paro Dzong incase of an approaching army, in fact the word Ta means ‘to see’in Dzongkha.The future first king was imprisoned here for a brief period in 1872. In 1968 the Ta Dzong was converted into the National Museum of Bhutan. The Museum houses a priceless collection of textile, costumes, paintings, appliqué, wooden handicrafts, weapons, armour and jewelry.

-Kyichu Lhakhang.
The Jowo Temple of Kyichu is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan.The temple was built by the Tibetan King Songsten Gampo in the 7th Century AD.The Kyichu Lhakhang was one of the 108 temples constructed by him to subdue a demon that was terrorizing the people of the Himalayas.The temple is believed to have been visited by the Guru Rinpoche in the 8th Century during his visit to the Paro Valley.

-Farm House
The natural beauty of Paro valley is enhanced by picturesque farm houses dotted among the fields and on the hillsides.The two to three-storied Bhutanese farmhouses are authentic in appearance,with colorfully decorated outer walls and lintels, and are traditionally built without the use of nails.All houses follow the same architectural style. A visit to a farmhouse gives an interesting glimpse into the lifestyle of a farming family.

After breakfast, drive over the Chelela pass (3899 m). From the pass, good view of the Himalayan Ranges and the valley beyond can be spotted.

Then continue the drive towards Haa. Haa is made up of five counties and was closed to outside world until 2002. There is a military camp by the Indian Army. In Haa valley, visit Wangchucklo Dzong dating back to 1915 and Lhakhang Nakpo (Black temple) is said to have been built by pigeon emanation of King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century and Lhakhang Karpo (white temple). After the visit drive back to Paro.

Post early morning breakfast, you will be going for morning hike up to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest.

Tiger’s Nest Hanging precariously and magically from a rather steep cliff, the Taktshang monastery is a monument of genuine pride for the Bhutanese nation. It defies architectural principles to the core and amazes tourists from around the world. Taktshang. Its history is deeply associated with the visit of Guru Padmasambhava, the revered Indian saint who came to Bhutan in the 8th century AD.

In the morning after early breakfast you will see you off at the Paro Airport for your onward destinations.

  • The approval of tourists VISA is contingent on the full payment of the tour
  • Flight ticket payment is subject to the Ticketing Time Limit issued by the airlines

Tour Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • 30 to 15 days prior to arrival - 20% of the total tour cost will be levied as cancellation fee.
  • 14 to 7 days prior to arrival - 50% of the tour cost will be levied as cancellation fee.
  • Less than a week prior to arrival - 100% cancellation charge will be levied as cancellation fee.
